THE REPRIEVE OF JOY & CALM FROM THE STORM

Welcome

I am Dr. Bruno Perossa MD, a dual boarded, Mayo Clinic trained child/adolescent and adult psychiatrist, who helps children, young adults, and Minnesota’s physicians struggling to navigate who they are in the midst of anxiety, depression, ADHD and trauma to realize their full potential, find purpose and security in their own skin, and fully function as the best version of themselves by offering tailored integrative treatment plans involving medication management, supplementation, and therapy.

The Game Plan

I work with you and your child or young adult in a compassionately curious way to get to the root of an issue and ensure diagnostic accuracy through a comprehensive assessment. I create a tailored plan involving evidence based practices in both medication management and therapy all the while bolstering the parent/child relationship or helping young adults utilize their internal resources to maximize their intrinsic potential. It’s not uncommon to hear me say, “May I kindly challenge you on that thought or action?” during my medication appointments. I understand that some people have fears of psychotropic medications or poor responses for which I offer an integrative approach to treatment.

The Struggle Is Real

Physicians: “I am completely burned out. I worked so hard since my youth of reaching this goal and used to be passionate about medicine. I have no time for my family or friends. I am constantly trying to meet productivity goals set by admin. I have less time with patients as they struggle to understand that I can’t change the system. I have nothing else I can do because this is all I know. I feel stressed beyond belief. I am scared that if I tell someone I am struggling then there will be retaliation by admin or worse, but I can’t keep this to myself any longer. I am looking for discreet care to maybe get on medication and navigate these issues with therapy, but don’t know who to trust.”

Parents: “I know my kid is smart but it’s like they just can’t focus in school and they are doing horribly; My daughter cries uncontrollably whenever I leave her that we can’t go anywhere; Ever since the divorce, my son has been so angry, he doesn’t talk with anyone; My son has always been a high achieving student and all he wants to do is sleep and stay in his room playing video games. His grades have slipped and he is no longer wanting to hang out with his friends.”

Young adults: “I hated taking ADHD meds when I was younger but now I am in college and I am really struggling to focus and stay on top of my coursework; I feel lost. I graduated college and have this job analyzing data. I mean it is a good job, but I just feel like there is more to life than this 8-5; My anxiety is so intense that I can’t trust my partner. I want to get married one day, but I just feel paranoid and always questioning our relationship; I just snap and get angry all the time. I have these big mood swings; I saw a medical provider once and she said I was just anxious but I feel that there is something else going on.”

Unfortunately, these challenges can be so overwhelming that they have downstream effects making life unmanageable. I hear you. I understand you. I can help you. Let’s first get to the root of the issue and then create a treatment plan tailored to you or your child’s needs.

I look forward to hearing your story and ways I can help you or your child maximize their potential and find that awaited reprieve
